Successfully selected for the tender for the Francis Ormond building of RMIT- Working with the design company Projects of Imagination, David and Michael Haddad have created in partnership with the building’s stakeholders a sophisticated yet casual dining space at the RMIT University.

David worked extensively with the board committee selecting the right name and the right feel for the café to be located inside a very important building to the RMIT campus. David recognised the importance of developing constructive dialogue with the board in creating a brand and cafe that celebrated the history of the building.

The design of the cafe was produced in close collaboration with the University staff. Using the metaphor of Pearson & Murphy, the founders of RMIT, the design and brand talks about a period in time with a contemporary twist. Old world materials, images  and  furnishings, juxtaposed with modern wall murals  and highlight colours have been utilised to create a warm, comfortable but contemporary environment for staff, students  and  external patrons.

Successfully introducing great design, environmental sustainability and friendly finishes such as bamboo flooring, copper cladding and industrial fittings and fixtures, Pearson and Murphy’s serves high quality fair-trade coffee along with servicing the University’s academics and professionals within the campus
